Paco had a great week exploring the stars in the night sky! On a nice clear night he can see a lot of stars by just looking up. He also has a telescope that he uses to see so much more of what is in the sky. Planets, constellations, shooting stars, and closer views of the moon. Have you ever looked through a telescope? You can use Paco's Lost In Space Galaxy Bottle activity to create your own universe in a bottle! Just grab a few supplies and follow the directions on the worksheet. Have fun and be creative! ![]()
Paco made a special video to show you how he finds Polaris, also called the North Star. When you are in the Northern Hemisphere the North Star can be very helpful because when you find that star you will always know you are facing north. Explorers have been using The North Star to help with navigation for centuries! If it's cloudy or if you're in a big city with a lot of light it can be more difficult to find. Pick a nice clear night with a dark sky and follow Paco's tips. Imagine using the stars to guide you on an exploration. Where can the stars take you? Paco learned a little bit about the planet Venus on his campout. Did you know that Venus is the third brightest object in the sky? The moon and sun are the only objects brighter! Sometimes you can even see Venus during the day. If you want to learn more about the planet Venus check out the Kids Learning Tube Venus Facts Video. It was fun for him to see his friends together in one call. They had fun catching up, telling jokes and even singing! Rhi the Rabbit had them all singing along to some of her favorite Sesame Street songs. Rhi told Paco and the others about a series of musical concerts called Tiny Desk, where musical acts perform at a tiny desk in an office. The whole gang from Sesame Street did a concert there last year and it was really fun. Click the video below to join the cast and sing along too! Paco is trying to learn the piano right now. He loves the sweet sounds the piano makes when all the notes come together so nicely! It takes a lot of practice and patience to learn the basics but he's having fun. It was his first visit to such a big indoor aquarium and he loved every square inch of it. There were a lot of fish. Some colorful and big, some small and almost translucent. Paco learned a lot about the different areas where ocean animals live and what they eat. Have you ever been to an aquarium? It’s almost like you’re in the water with the fish. When Paco saw the shark he was happy to have the glass between them, that's for sure. Sharks are so cool, but always keep your distance and respect their space! Building is so much fun! Whenever Paco builds something, whether it's big or small, he fancies himself an engineer. And it's true. Engineers do build things. They build lots of things to solve all kinds of problems. Engineers study and work hard to understand how things work so that they can help make improvements and create new things! You know who else calls themself an engineer? ELMO! Yep, Elmo the engineer, from Sesame Street. Elmo has a great new idea for a contraption that will... serve pasta?!?! Paco built a classic birdhouse this week and he also helped his friend Rosco fix a hole in his dog house. He's had a very productive week as an engineer!
